1. Born in Hindu family as Dileep Kumar, AR Rahman changed his religion into Islam after his ill sister was cured by a Sufi saint Karimullah Shah Kadri.

Controversies
A fatwa was issued against AR Rahman for composing music of biopic based on Prophet Muhammad titled "Muhammad: The Messenger of God."
AR Rahman and his daughter were involved in the controversy when people accused him of forcing Khatija (daughter) to wear a niqab.
