Some Interesting Facts About AR Rahman

1. Born in Hindu family as Dileep Kumar, AR Rahman changed his religion into Islam after his ill sister was cured by a Sufi saint Karimullah Shah Kadri.

2. AR Rahman didn’t complete his schooling. He was asked to leave school because of less attendance.

3. His name is also listed in Limca Book of Records 2007. He holds the title of “Indian of the Year for Contribution to Popular Music” Award.

4. The keyboard that he used to play when he was a kid is still on display in a studio in Chennai.

Controversies

A fatwa was issued against AR Rahman for composing music of biopic based on Prophet Muhammad titled "Muhammad: The Messenger of God."
