Some Interesting Facts About Manisha Koirala

1. Grand-daughter of former Nepalese Prime Minister, Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala, Manisha Koirala did not use her family status as a launchpad to enter Bollywood.
2. She very well knows the art of Manipuri and Bharatnatyam dances.
3. For her roles in movies like Akele Hum Akele Tum, Bombay, (both 1995), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Lajja (2001), Dil Se (1998), and Company (2002), she won the Filmfare Critics Award thrice.
4. As she felt extremely weak and was admitted to the hospital, it was discovered that Manisha had Ovarian Cancer in November 2012. She went to the US for her surgery after seeing doctors in Nepal, India, and the US.
5. To support women, Manisha does a lot of social work throughout her life. She also fought against violence against women and trafficking of Nepalese girls. 

Controversies

After completing the shooting of the film Ek Chotisi Love Story in 2002, Manisha accused the director Shashilal Nair of shooting obscene postures by using Koirala's body double, without even her approval. Also, she asked Nair to delete the scenes from the film. Further, she sued Nair and dragged him to court. And, the court decided to stay the release of the film.
