Lulu is a girl from Argentina who lives in the United States with her young daughter. The mom was not interested in a traditional 9-5 job or some lifestyle that requires paying rent which would require a constant job to be done.
When Lulu had to move out of her house, she decided to move with her daughter into a shipping container. The container was earlier used for bringing things back and forth from China, now turned Lulu’s haven.
The place had to be converted into a home. So Lulu despite any building experience decided to renovate it. She spent one month and $4000 in insulation, installing windows and a functioning kitchen.
Lulu believes that when you don’t have money, you shall make yourself creative and that’s how she transformed the old shipping container into a new haven. Lulu found everything in the junkyard to build home out of recycled material. Mom and daughter have a bathtub, playroom, toilet and sinks in their new home.
But the container only offered 160 square feet and the duo needed more space. So, she built a new bedroom on a used flatbed trailer. Lulu says,
“This was really a choice about how many hours do we have to our life, and how do I want to spend those hours?”
Lulu is not just a good mother who has made all amenities available for her daughter but has also challenged the stereotypes of a normal mother by living a simpler life and spending quality time with her daughter.
