With the chain link and fenced parking area, the fascinating Cascade Springs Nature Preserve is an unusual venue that serves the natural beauty in the heart of the city Atlanta. The preserve’s calmness is collectively covered by urban buzz in a Southwest Atlanta neighborhood spotted with 1970’s plazas and historic Craftsman houses.

Inside the park, you can find the 120 acres of green space, eye-catching waterfall, and a wildlife-filled forest that feed the park’s many streams. This beautiful park is actually a home to wildlife including turtles and birds. 

The trail packs a natural beauty that fall short in length, visiting the covered remains of a stone spring house. There’s much to explore at park in Atlanta, and with so exotic surroundings, it’s easy to forget that you are wandering in the concrete covered metropolis.

The trail in the park meets a historic stone and mortar springhouse over a dribbling spring. Along the way to Cascade springs nature you will find the quarry, Civil War era trenches and a covered spring house. 

The park also offers the signposts about the Battle of Utoy Greek. The spring waters of the park were often considered to be the restorative to one’s health and attracting resorts was built there, including a restaurant and hotel.  (17.1)

Before that, the spring water was actually sold. The water contains potassium, calcium carbonate and other minerals with positive effects. This beautiful Cascade Springs Nature Preserve is also considered as one of the oldest forests remain in the Atlanta city that marks small springs feeding the shoals of Utoy Greek.

The hike meets the trail junction over 1 mile. If you want to reach the toughest part of the park first, head towards right, alternatively if you want to see the waterfall then head to the left first. The hike at right gets you on the ridge’s crest. 

Ivy tree covers the landscape in emerald as the trail goes down crossing an old building just before 1 mile. The trail approaches the sound of running water through the forest, before contacting the spring’s waterfall at 1.3 miles. Departing the waterfall, the trail runs a pedestrian way and follows the zigzag banks of the creek toward the trailhead, reaching the park entrance at 1.6 miles finishing the hike.

There’s even a secret way that leads you to some beautiful boulders beyond the fence of the park.
