7 Ways to Better Deal With Your Annoying Friends

Friends are our second family. They comfort us, make us happy, and sometimes even annoy us. But when a friend of yours annoys you too often leaving you irritable all the time, then it’s time to talk. And as friendship is a two-way street, it can survive only when each one makes serious efforts to nurture the relationship.

Here are 7 ways how you can better deal with your annoying friend and this tricky situation that you’re in.

1. Try spending time with that friend in a group rather than alone

See your friend in a group and not when you two are alone. This will lead to a buffer between you two and you won’t have to talk to your friend that much. If your friend beings annoying you, you would have other people to whom you can talk.

2. Encouraging Them to Try a New Hobby or Make Other Friends

A friend who is too clingy can be encouraged to mingle with other people or have other interests. This may, to a certain extent, free you from pressure and annoyance. And your friend will irritate you less when you are together.

3. Ignoring Works When They Behave Weirdly to Gather Others’ Attention

In certain public situations, your friend may utter negative things or complain too much to enjoy all the sympathy, attention, and response they get from people around. Sometimes he or she may even mock other people to appear funny.

In that case, you should just ignore and rather a response may be considered as an encouragement to the annoying behavior.

4. Let Them Know That You’re Annoyed & What’s Making You Feel Like That

There’s a chance that your friend doesn’t know that some habit of his has been bothering you and getting on your nerves.

Maybe your friend actually cares about you and doesn’t intend to do that. So you better have an honest conversation with them about it if you want such behavior to not continue.

5. Know the Right Time to End the Friendship

Not all friendships last forever. You may try every possible thing to make a friendship work but sometimes nothing seems to work out and you have to call it quits. The signs when you need to make this decision are:

  • Getting into a constant argument and almost never getting along.
  • Feeling bad about yourself or feeling like your self-esteem has been hurt.
  • Feeling uncomfortable or nervous around your friend.

6. Give Trial Separation a Try

If you have decided to end your friendship, have a trial separation to be sure about it. Think how your life would be like without this friend. Some time away will also clear your head and will give a fresh perspective on your friendship.

7. Give some time to them and your friendship

It takes time for things to change. If you and your friend have amicably sorted out the differences and had a good talk, give him or her some time to change if he is willing to.

And on the other hand, if you’ve set limits in your relationship, it’ll take time to get into the new habit.
