Rabies is a sensitive viral disease of the central nervous system that influences human beings and other mammals but is general in carnivores (flesh-eaters). It is referred to as zoonosis at times or illness of animals which can be transferred to human beings. Rabies is also named as hydrophobia, which exactly means "fear of water”.

Transmitted by:

Rabies is fully transmitted through saliva from a bite or a scratch of an infected animal.

Rabies is a viral disease that spreads very fast and easily affects the body. In more than 99% of human cases, the rabies virus is spread by domestic dogs. Rabies influences domestic and wild animals and is transmitted to the people through bites or scratches, usually via saliva.

Animals that can transmit the rabies virus:

  • Dogs

  • Ferrets
  • Monkeys
  • Rabbits
  • Horses
  • Foxes
  • Woodchucks
  • Coyotes
  • Skunks

Symptoms of rabies-

  • Pain in the bitten place
  • Feeling ill
  • Fever
  • Depression
  • Headache
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • Poor appetite, nausea and vomiting

In 4 - 10 days, the neurological indications will appear as the virus starts to multiply in the spinal cord or brain. These symptoms comprise:

  • Confusion

  • Insomnia
  • Paralysis of lower legs
  • Restlessness
  • Extreme saliva production
