Awards and Honors Doval is the youngest police officer (just after serving for six years) ever to receive the Police Medal for his commendable dedication and service in the police. In 1988

he was bestowed with Kirti Chakra

India’s 2nd highest peacetime gallantry award. Also

he was the 1st police officer to receive this medal

which was earlier awarded only as a military honor. He has also been presented with the President’s police medal.

  • Ajit Doval hails from a military background as his father served in the Indian Army.
  • Doval is the Founder and Director of the Vivekananda International Foundation, which was founded in the year 2009.
  • During 1971-99, Doval successfully terminated al the 15 hijackings of Indian Airlines aircraft.
  • In 1999, he was the key negotiator with hijackers and helped release passengers from the Indian Airlines flight IC-814 in Kandahar.
  • He lived in Lahore for seven years as an undercover agent and has also worked for six years in the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan.
  • In Pakistani media, Doval is called ‘Indian James Bond.’
  • Back in 2005, Doval took retirement from his position as Director at Intelligence Bureau (IB).
  • Before Operation Blue Star, he disguised as a Pakistani spy (rickshaw puller) and gathered information from Khalistani militants.
