Some Facts About Angoorlata Deka

• She is passionate about dancing and was guided by Barnali Mahanta during her young age. Her favorite dance form is Kathak. 

• Once during her dance class, she met director Chakrahar Deka who was amazed by her performance and offered her a film “Prembhora Sokulu.” However, she didn’t go for it as she came from a conservative family.

• Later, the turning point of her film career came when she met internationally acclaimed actress Seema Biswas, who also hails from her hometown Nalbari. Angoorlata considers Seema her inspiration.

• In male actors, she is highly inspired by Tapan Das, whom she says helped discover herself.

• In 2008, she played the role of Benazir Bhutto in theatre during the early years of her career. Eventually, she worked in different short films, feature films, and plays. She has given many powerful performances in Assamese movies like Chanda Mudoi’s Junda Emaan Gunda and many more.

• She is married to Akashdeep, who is one of the finest actors of the Assamese industry. 

• She joined politics in December 2015. 

• She is one of the six BJP female candidates, out of which two won elections, and Angoorlata is one of these. She fought and won the seat against a former minister. 

• She is the first-term BJP MLA from the Batadroba constituency of Assam. 

• She took charge as the new Vice-Chairman of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Nov 2019.
