he decided to contest Delhi Assembly Elections against Sheila Dikshit

In the 2013 Delhi Assembly Elections he defeated Sheila Dikshit fro the New Delhi constituency by a margin of 25864 votes

On 28 December 2013 he became the Chief Minister of Delhi

On 25 March 2014 he declared to contest Lok Sabha election against Narendra Modi from the Varanasi constituency and lost by a margin of around 370000 votes

On 14 February 2015 he became the Chief Minister of Delhi for the second time with a huge majority of 67 out of 70 seats.

Some Interesting Facts About Arvind Kejriwal

  1. He is a mechanical engineer graduate from IIT, Kharagpur. It was in 1989 when he joined Tata Steel but resigned in 1992 to pursue Civil Services Examination.
  2. Arvind Kejriwal joined the IRS as an Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in 1995.
  3. During his job in the IT department, Arvind and a few other people initiated a movement named Parivartan to focus on citizens issues related to PDS, social welfare schemes, and electricity.
  4. In 2011, he joined Anna Hazare and formed the IAC group which worked for the process of passing legislation of the Jan Lokpal Bill.
  5. He is the founder of Aam Aadmi Party.
  6. He has also won several awards like the Distinguished Alumnus award from IIT Kharagpur for leadership in 2009, Raman Magsaysay Award, IIM gold Medal, and more.
  7. Arvind Kejriwal’s wife is also an IRS officer.
