  • Born on 24 October 1974 at Hamirpur, Anurag Thakur is the eldest son of Prem Kumar Dhumal and Sheela Devi. 

  • In 2016, he became the first serving BJP Member of Parliament to become a regular commissioned officer in the Territorial Army. 

  • He played a Ranji Trophy match against J&K in 2000 when he was the president of HPCA and appointed himself as the chairman of selectors of HPCA Ranji trophy cricket team. 

  • He became the youngest man to be the President of HPCA at the age of 26. 

  • When he joined the politics, he was first elected to the Lok Sabha a by-poll as a candidate of BJP.

  • In 2008, he succeeded his father when he was selected as Member of Parliament of India's 14th Lok Sabha from Hamirpur constituency. 

  • He was re-elected in the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. He was again selected as a third time MP in the 16th Lok Sabha.
