There is a common buzz all around that over-usage of social media is harming youth and holds several disadvantages.
However, in the middle of such buzz, one most inspiring story proved that sometimes social media accounts could also become a source of inspiration.
It may be hard to believe, but it is true! Well, we all know that the transformations of others keep us motivated while setting goals. And, the story of this girl is quite similar to it. Yes, a teenager has revealed how inspiration from strangers on Instagram helped her shed 63 kgs. Therefore she thanks Instagram for helping her shed a jaw-dropping ten stone.
Here we are talking about 19-year-old Josephine Desgrand, living in Queensland, Australia, who weighed over 120 kilos (19 stones). Despite reaching a dress size XXL or at her heaviest, she was addicted to sweets, ice creams, and chocolates - or anything that tripled her weight in just two years.
Well, this is the past because now the aspiring author dropped 63 kilos (10 stones) and also credited Instagram for helping her reach her weight loss goal.
She says wearing summer outfits at that huge weight made her less confident and soon realized that she needed to change.
So, with the help of Instagram and YouTube, she started following the weight loss journey of different people.
Instead of eating healthy salads and nuts only, Josephine has completely transformed her diet by cutting out sugar completely, and now she is wearing a dress size 8.
According to Josephine,
“I was using Instagram daily in a bid to try and lose weight, I loved looking at the inspiring pictures from strangers around the world. I have always been chubby, my family and I love food so there was always crisps and chocolate in the cupboards.
But one day I looked in the mirror and I had tripled in size, I tried to lose weight, but my sweet tooth would always get the better of me. I would eat anything sweet in between meals, such as cookies, chocolate and ice cream but now if I ever crave sweet things, I just chew on a mint and that does the trick.
I wasn’t comfortable wearing summery outfits and I suddenly realised I needed to change, so I started following weight loss journeys on Instagram and YouTube. My mindset changed, normal people like me, post pictures of their transformation and it made me realise I can do it too.
I could relate to their captions which helped motivate me, so I stopped snacking on junk and got tips from the accounts on what to replace it with.

If I ever thought about giving up, I would just look on Instagram and it would push me to keep going.”
Hence, overcoming her sugary cravings by eating fresh, nutritious food, determined Josephine has been able to turn her poor diet around completely.
Able to slip into a slim size eight, Josephine is now ten stone lighter and pursuing a healthier lifestyle.
Well, she gives all credits to Instagram for her weight loss.
Looking at the weight loss journeys of others on social media like Instagram and YouTube inspired her to change, the teenager revealed later.
Rather than just a diet, she started to view weight loss as a lifestyle change hence the fitness community on Instagram inspired Josephine.
Josephine has been able to maintain her ten stone weight loss, for three dedicated years, and is now inspiring others in turn.
The teenager also revealed that after she turned up to her high-school prom, her weight loss became a highlight and was also praised for her figure by other pupils, especially who had spent years ignoring her.
She later expressed that she has new-found confidence now, and also she wants to help others achieve the same thing.
Josephine posts meal plans and also offers encouragement plus advice to others who are seeking to make a healthy lifestyle change like her. Also, she has more than 130,000 followers on Instagram now, plus she looks like a completely different person today.

BREAKFAST – With vegemite or jam, four slices of toast.
LUNCH – With chips and chocolate milk, two wraps or a burger.
DINNER – lasagne or Pizza with chips.
SNACKS – Big sized chocolate bar, sweets, ice cream, and cookies.
BREAKFAST – With salmon or avocado, two poached eggs.
LUNCH – Chicken salad.
DINNER – steak with vegetables or Grilled salmon and sweet potato
SNACKS – Nuts or fruit
“I can’t believe the girl in the photos is me, I would never go back as my life has completely changed. I live on the beach, yet I would avoid going or wear long sleeved dresses despite it being over 30 degrees.
Now I am comfortable in my own skin and love wearing short dresses or crop tops with leggings. I will never forget the day I turned up to prom wearing a figure-hugging size 8 dress and people who had ignored me for years, congratulated me.
I used to be so shy but now I have come out of my shell and I am doing my best to help others do the same. I receive messages daily asking for tips and it is an amazing feeling knowing I am helping others achieve their dream body.”
